How to obtain the multi-year residence permit “seasonal worker” in France?

It is possible to apply for a multi-year residence permit if you wish to stay in France as a seasonal worker. It is valid for a maximum of 3 years and is renewable.

Who can receive the residence permit “seasonal worker”?

If you are a foreigner coming to France for seasonal work, and you don’t exceed a cumulative duration of 6 months per year, you can obtain this residence permit.

You are authorized to stay in France only during the periods fixed by your card. You must also agree not to leave your usual place of residence abroad.

You must have :

  • a visa valid for 3 months with the mention “seasonal worker”,
  • and a seasonal employment contract for a minimum of 3 months.

What are the procedures for obtaining the seasonal worker residence permit?

THE STEPS TO BE TAKEN BY YOUR EMPLOYER

Your employer must apply for a work permit before you enter France.

Your future boss must send to the Regional Directorate for the Economy, Employment, Labor and Solidarity (DREETS) a file comprising the following documents:

  • Form cerfa n°15187*02 to conclude an employment contract with a foreign employee residing outside France,
  • Letter explaining why to recruit the employee and what will be this person’s responsibilities at work,
  • Copy of the employee’s passport or national identity card if the person resides abroad,
  • Proof of the research carried out to recruit a candidate who is already present on the job market,
  • Proof of qualification and experience of the future employee (e.g. copies of diplomas).

He must also attach the following documents unless they have already been sent:

  • Kbis extract for a legal person,
  • Extract K, artisan card or tax notice for a physical person,
  • Copy of the last payment slip for social security contributions,
  • If necessary, copy of the last payment slip for contributions to the paid vacation fund.

THE STEPS TO BE TAKEN BY THE residence permit APPLICANT

You must apply for the card during 2 months before the expiry date of your visa at the prefecture closest to your first stay in France.

If documents are not treated before the expiry date, you will have to pay a visa regularization fee of 180 €, in addition to the residence permit.

Documents to provide:

  • Your long-stay visa,
  • Passport,
  • Birth certificate,
  • If you are married: residence card (or identity card) of your spouse and marriage document (complete copy or extract with filiation),
  • If you have children: extracts of the birth certificate of your children with filiation,
  • A document that shows proof of address dated less than 3 months,
  • passport photos,
  • Form cerfa n°15187*02,
  • Commitment to maintain habitual residence outside France,
  • Medical certificate issued by the Ofii – you will need to initiate process by sending “Formulaire de Demande d’Attestation OFII” (medical certificate is requested when handing over the card),
  • Proof of payment for document tax stamp (requested when handing over the card).
