How to obtain a student residence permit in the UK?

At first, it is worth mentioning that you are not obliged to apply for a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) separately. That means, if you apply for a visa or any other document that will let you stay in the UK, you are going to receive it automatically if you are approved. Hence, you will be given a residence permit if you:

  • are trying to settle in the UK
  • apply to extend your visa for longer than six months or simply apply for staying for more than half a year.

These are only some examples. You have to bear in mind that you will be given such a document only when your application is accepted by the authorities.

What data can you find on a student residence permit?

As on each Biometric Residence Permit, on a student residence permit you will be able to find such data:

  • your name and surname
  • place and date of birth
  • reason for coming into the UK
  • your biometric information, fingertips, and photo
  • information whether you are entitled to access public funds.
