What are IDPCs?

Which UK Documents Allow Digital Photos?
UK identity cards were abolished in 2011 and can no longer be used as proof of identity. You can use your passport instead. The majority of Europeans will require a passport in order to enter the UK, with the exception of those who fall into the category of the UK’s EU Settlement Scheme.
If you are from a country that is not part of the EEA, changes to identity cards for foreign nationals don’t impact biometric residence permits. This means that you can still use your documentation as needed.

Driving Licence:
When you renew your driving license, Her Majesty’s Passport Office has already stored your digital photo, and the picture is duplicated for your driving license. However, it is possible to submit a new photo, should you not wish for them to use the stored pic. You can do this by filling in the form at the end of your online application. You will need to renew your license if you’ve changed your address or your name.
Biometric Residence Permit:
You can use your BRP to confirm your identity and rights to work or study in the UK, as well as your rights to public services. You will typically receive a BRP if you have applied to be in Britain for more than six months. Alternatively, if you extend your visa beyond 6 months you may receive a BRP. If you switch your visa to a new passport or apply to settle within the UK you don’t need to apply for a BRP separately.
Visa
It is possible for certain countries to submit a Visa application online and to upload a photo digitally while confirming your identity with an ID document scan. However, you will have to visit the visa application centre in person where your biometric information such as your photo and fingerprints will be taken.
