  • They must provide any information needed that is in their passport
  • They must hold a 5-year or 10-year Canadian passport port that is not expired, damaged, inaccessible, or revoked. It must be a valid passport.

Guarantor requirements for a regular passport submitted outside Canada?

Occupation-based guarantors

  • Registered or licensed with the appropriate authority to practice their profession
  • They are current working in that profession
  • Must be one of the following professions
    • Judge
    • Dentist
    • Pharmacist

    • Notary Public
    • Lawyer
    • Medical Doctor
    • Head of University
    • Signing officer of a bank or financial institution

Military Personnel

If a military officer has known you for 2 years or more, you can select from one of the following directors:

  • NDHQ
  • Base commanders
  • Commanding officers
  • NDHQ career managers
  • NDHQ directors general
  • Personnel administrative officers

Who can not be a guarantor for Canadian passport?

If you are the parent signing and applying for your child, then you cannot be the guarantor for their passport. If you have not known the person for more than 2 years, you cannot be the guarantor. Refer to the list above that mentions other requirements of a guarantor and those that do not meet these requirements are unable to act as a guarantor.
